Right from the very first page, the author dropped us into the action and the story never slowed down from there. I love that Quinn suffers from the same fears and anxieties as the rest of us. And could Jet have been anymore of a better match for her? The two of them together make the perfect team, be it running from loco she-pires or abandoning ship to avoid the impending fireworks, these two connect on a level that brings them right to their HEA. This was a fantastic book and I can’t wait to see who finds the life-mate they’ve always dreamed of next. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2021 )
- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Ok Read, but not Lynsay Sands best… : While I did enjoy this new release by Lynsay Sands…I was quite disappointed, it wasn’t one of her best. I have been a Lynsay Sands fan for over a decade and have read pretty much all of her Argeneau series and all of her historical romances and loved them. This book was ok, but a disappointment. Would it again? Probably. But I would’ve waited for it to go on sale and not preordered it. I think Lynsay could’ve done better with this one, it had so much potential. The hero was one hot thing…though he was as explored or given as much character as he could’ve had. The heroine was sweet. But I got tired of hearing how messed up she was, from herself, telling Jet that. It didn’t really have as much action as I’m used to in her books either. We initially met Quinn and her son Parker in The Trouble with Vampires, which is her twin sister Pet's story (29), and I admit to not giving a lot of thought to Quinn after that... my mistake... Quinn seemed like the weak link in the twin department, but oh, how wrong I was. She and her son survived being violently turned by her husband and losing her brilliant career as a cardiothoracic surgeon! She may have suffered through disappointment and depression BUT she did not give up... she just needed a few years to regroup - Mile High with a Vampire is Quinn taking back her life, unlocking her past, and discovering the possibility of love. She just has to get through a plane crash, life mate dreams (those aren't so hard to endure, I'm sure), the reemergence of terrifying childhood memories, and if this wasn't enough... an immortal crime syndicate is prowling around. But this one is stilted and really odd. The story is not played out - it’s like someone doing a plot description. It’s no fun. Oh dear. Maybe the next one will be better.
